Important: There is no guarantee that ATS strategies will have the same performance in the future. I use backtests and forward tests to compare historical strategy performance. Backtests are based on historical data, not real-time data so the results shared are hypothetical, not real. Forward tests are based on live data, however, they use a simulated account. Any success I have with live trading is untypical. Trading futures is extremely risky. You should only use risk capital to fund live futures accounts and if you do trade live, be prepared to lose your entire account. There are no guarantees that any performance you see here will continue in the future. I recommend using ATS strategies in simulated trading until you/we find the holy grail of trade strategy. This is strictly for learning purposes.

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

Strategy 83c
As promised, I'm finally sharing Strategy 83c—it’s the only variation of Strategy 83 that I've kept under wraps until now and it has become the best performing strategy in the Q1 2025 Forward Test.
The Q1 2025 Forward Test is not a backtest. It runs live data on simulated accounts so the output is more reliable. Scroll to the bottom of the Strategy Descriptions page for a link to the strategies in the Q1 2025 Forward Test.
Strategy 83c represents a significant evolution in our approach. In particular, it confirms that asymmetric entry and exit signals may be the key to robust strategy development.
What Makes Strategy 83c Different?
There are several key differences between 83a, 83b and 83c. In total, these strategy variations made $18K on 29 trades since January 5, 2025:
Total Profit: $18,202.50
Total Trades: 29
Average Profit per Trade: $627.67
83c accounted for 94% of the total profit generated by all three strategy variations.
Strategy83c demonstrates clear advantages over the other variants. It is one of the most robust strategies in the portfolio and is traded on three different instruments. Here’s a quick summary of position stats:
Long Positions: 9 trades, $4,410.00 profit
Short Positions: 16 trades, $12,687.50 profit
Instrument Performance: Strategy83c showed strong performance across all instruments, with the ES futures contract being particularly profitable.
ES 03-25: $11,820.00 (highest overall profit)
YM 03-25: $4,075.00
RTY 03-25: $1,510.00
Both months were profitable overall, with Strategy83c delivering consistent positive returns.
Key Advantages
Bidirectional Advantage: Strategy83c's ability to profit from both long and short positions gives it a significant edge.
Short Position Effectiveness: Short trades generated approximately 74% of Strategy83c's total profits ($12,687.50 out of $17,097.50), demonstrating the value of the strategy's asymmetric exit conditions for short positions.
Consistency: Strategy83c maintained profitability across different market conditions and instruments.
Trade Success Rate: With a 64% win rate, Strategy83c has shown strong reliability (at least over the last 8 weeks).
Large Trade Impact: Trade #4 (a short position on ES 03-25) produced an exceptional profit of $11,750, demonstrating the strategy's ability to capitalize on significant market moves.
The key takeaway here is that 83c is based on the same insights as 83a and 83b, but has been more successful in the Q4 2024 and Q1 2025 Forward Test.
Which features and conditions make 83c so special?
There are a few features and conditions that make 83c unique when compared against 83a and 83b:
